Yixing Teapots: Beyond Tradition is the second exhibition The Clay Studio has hosted focusing on this 1000 year old tradition. Curated by Xiaoping Luo & Junya Shao, two internationally recognized masters of this traditional art form, the exhibition will include work by contemporary Yixing artists from China.
Yixing teapots are extolled as being superior to all other teapots due to the special zisha clay used in their making and found only in Yixing, China. This special clay absorbs the delicate flavors of the tea with the teapot becoming more seasoned with each use.
