Wonder in micro-MACRO is an exhibit of the collaborative project between The Print Center’s Artists-in-Schools Resident Artist Marguerita Hagan, Art Teacher Harmony Thompson, and her talented students at Northeast High School. The students and their teachers visited The Clay Studio last fall to view the exhibition Transference: Transferware in Contemporary Ceramics. During their time here, they had a studio visit with Charlotte Hodes, The Clay Studio Guest Artist-in-Residence at the time, whose work using transfer techniques was on view.
The resulting works of art made by the students propel viewers into the microscopic-macroscopic exploration undertaken by the students with the skilled leadership of the project teachers. This concept of looking at the world simultaneously on a microscopic and macroscopic level has been expressed throughout the rich history of printmaking and ceramics. Students integrated their own photo documentation and investigative imagery of the diverse world around them into a collage of drawings, then paintings that were transferred onto their hand built clay plates. The final highlight was complete with ceramic-printmaking process of luster and color ceramic decals of student photos. The results is dazzling. Explore the WONDER through these young gifted artists.
Student Reception and Awards Ceremony: June 9, 10am – 11:30am
