Jennifer Johnson, Darla Jackson, Suzanne Seesman
Sep 7th - Sep 23rd, 2018
The weight of parenthood is both lovely and exhausting. These three women, who are each at different stages of motherhood, are also actively practicing artists. They will spend the month installing work they feel addresses the weighty concerns of being both an artist and a mother. The exhibition will also engage the project Both Artist and Mother, created by Kate Fisher.

Description:
AW, high school children, composer (my piece is based on her “My Mother in Love” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kSu1fwFOWk starts at 49:30 )
My piece is a scroll of thin clay with both musical notes and the writing from her actual composition notes, and the embroidery will wrap around the scroll. It will be mounted out from the wall slightly so the red on the back reflects a bit. See the cell phone picture below. Note, she has the most beautiful hair, which I’ve worked into the piece, too, or maybe it’s the center.
