Small Favors was conceived of in 2006 as part of theStudio's ongoing effort to offer accessible, high-quality artworks that appealto ceramic enthusiasts of all ages: older collectors who are challengedfor space and young fine art collectors who are challenged for money. Itallows those who are space challenged to continue to collect work by artiststhey love, and those who want to begin to collect work an accessible entrypoint.
This exhibition engageseach artist’s creativity in new and exciting ways. For some artists, thework created for this show is similar to what they normally make although at areduced scale. For others, it’s an opportunity to break away from whatthey create in their daily studio practice. Regardless of this choice, theworks exhibited are incredibly varied in material and form. Though diminished in scale, these artworks are huge in impact.
