Ryan W. Kelly isa native son of the great state of Michigan, but currently resides under theshadow of the Liberty Bell and the Ben Franklin Bridge in PhiladelphiaPennsylvania. Kelly is a recentalumnus of the five year long Resident Artist program here at The Clay Studio. Kelly holds a BFA inCeramics from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA in Ceramics from TheOhio State University. In 2012 he was a Fleisher Wind Challenge Artist, in 2010 he was an Independence Foundation Fellow in the Arts and is also a pastrecipient of the Lormina Salter Fellowship at the Baltimore Clayworks. Kelly has taught both on the communitylevel at a number of institutions and at the collegiate level at The Ohio StateUniversity, Swarthmore College, Rutgers University, The Maryland InstituteCollege of Art, and Tyler School of Art. The wide variety of materials and communities in which he works has ledto his involvement with several puppet theaters and theatrical propconstruction for low budget films, including the Green Porno series by Isabella Rossellini. Ryan is a founding member andco-curator at Practice Gallery in Philadelphia.
