Ron Philbeck is a North Carolina potter who makes simple every day wares. Employing traditional methods of making such as a kick wheel to form the pots and decorating with lines of colored slips, Philbeck harkens back to a time where the local potter provided the dishes we eat off every day. Philbecks work is inexpensive, meant for all people. The forms are direct. bowls cups, plates, jars and pouring vessels. All these are items you would find in every home. These are not works to display in china cabinet and pass down in perfect condition. These are pieces to be used, chipped, and used some more.
