Munemitsu Taguchi is currently one of our Resident Artists having joined the program in Setpember of 2006. He received his BFA from the University of Alaska and his MFA from the University of Indiana, Bloomington. Taguchi’s porcelain tableware is a minimalists dream with pure, clean lined forms, asymmetrical in profile and glazed in a single color.
He States, “My materials choices, porcelain and monochromatic glazes, are deeply rooted in my Asian heritage and study. The pots of the Sung Dynasty in China and some twentieth century Japanese potters have become my points of departure. To these base line aesthetics I have super imposed my affinity for high design and machining processes in order to more accurately express my personal aesthetic.”
