E. M. Alysse Bowd constructs ceramic objects to populate a magical world of her creation. A series of hundreds of miniature thrones, chairs, and tables will cover our small, Bonovitz Gallery, evoking her enchanted kingdom. The Furniture Society Annual Conference will take place this year in Philadelphia. Through this exhibition we hope to strengthen the connection between the ceramic and furniture art worlds.
Bowd is a sentimentalist, a heroine and a romantic. She is a child of the prairies who prefers open skies and warm chinooks. She graduated with her BFA in Ceramics from Alberta College of Art and Design and is finishing her graduate studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Her artistic practice consists of object-making, performance, and participatory gestures.
