After discovering her love for working with clay during her days living in Brooklyn, NY, Leena Muley now creates contemporary small-batch pottery as an Associate Artist at the Clay Studio of Philadelphia.
Born in London and raised by a Chinese-Malaysian mother and Indian-Kenyan father, Leena uses her multicultural influences and the practices of her own home lifestyle to inspire the form and function of her work. With a focus on comfort in mind, each piece is made to bring ease and joy to everyday rituals.
Currently inspired by Sacred Geometry and artists such as Florentina Pakosta and Hilma Af Klint, Leena’s work blends a love of clean lines, geometric shapes, and bold color with the natural beauty of stoneware clay. A burgeoning cheese aficionado (just ask about her annual Cheesegiving extravaganza), Leena prides herself on performing one-handed cartwheels, correctly identifying Star Trek alien species, and having enough mugs to gather with loved ones to enjoy a good cuppa tea.
