Our Community is a biannual show that brings together the entire Clay Studio Community, representing the creative expression of individuals involved with the organization as employees, Faculty, Resident Artists, Associate Artists, Work Exchange Artists, Students, and Members.
Frank Madison, who is blind, has been a Wheel II student at The Clay Studio for a number of years, and his lidded jar, "Abra Kadabra" was on display in the Our Community: The Clay Studio Members Exhibition 2020.
We sat down with Frank and asked him to share some of his thoughts about working with clay.
When and why did you first start making art?
About 25 years ago. I just loved working with my hands.
How did you learn about The Clay Studio?
From a volunteer at another art class.
What is your biggest inspiration for making art?
To make the best work I can each day.
What's been your most memorable experience at The Clay Studio?
Having great people like Daniel and Jesse helping me to be creative and show me new ideas and techniques.
What do you like most about The Clay Studio?
Getting to work with the great people here, instructors and students alike.
